Gelfand Kausiyo Joins Turbo Worx SA
Gelfand Kausiyo joins us as CEO from the 1st September 2012. He joins Turbo Worx SA (Pty) Ltd after having been with the South African national public broadcaster (SABC) for more than a decade. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the business of multi-media, showbiz and ICT in general.
Gelfand is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. A registered member of both the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), he has served in the past as Chairman of the Electronics & Software Section of SAIEE. Gelfand has held various positions in the past at the former Bop Broadcasting Corporation and at the SABC, as Maintenance Engineer, Broadcast Systems Designer, Boadcast Engineering Specialist, Manager of Technology Development, and in 2004 he was appointed General Manager: Radio Broadcast Facilities (RBF) – a position he held for 8 years before he was appointed as Acting Chief Technology Officer of the SABC in November 2011. With proven general management abilities he set up what has now become the SABC’s biggest broadcast facilities business unit.
As General Manager of RBF at the SABC, Gelfand lead the groundbreaking initiatives that brought Paul Simon and Chante Moore, two of USA’s most renowned international artists to perform and record at the M1 Studios in Johannesburg in 2011. The Turbo Worx Promotions team has just got the right turbo and boost for another exciting period ahead.
Gelfand further holds an MDP qualification from UNISA and he is currently busy with the final stages of his Dissertation for an MBA. Some of his immediate roles and responsibilities at Turbo Worx SA, will be to formulate key strategies for the group, build strategic alliances with the global players in the industry and help the organisation to grow.
